Chapter 9 – The Delivery

Fry was in bed sound asleep when he heard a noise coming from the bathroom. He got up and walked over to the door, opened it and saw that Leela was hunched over the toilet, obviously sick. He walked over and pulled her up and put his arm around her.
“What’s wrong honey?”
“I think I might me coming down with something.”
“We’ll stop by the hospital on the way to work this morning.”
“ok, better than having Zoidberg look at me.”
They then got up off the floor and began to get ready for work, since both of them figured they wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep.
After a long shower, they both got dressed and had their breakfast. They both had on their usual clothes, except that Leela was now wearing her green jacket over her tank top. She fed Nibbler his breakfast of Kibbles N’ Snouts, which he devoured in less than five minutes.
“ok Nibbler, you be good for mommy.” Leela said. Fry took her arm and they went out the door to the nearest tube station about a block away. The sky was blue and the sun was shinning, and if you didn’t notice the snow on the ground, you would think that its summer. Surprisingly there wasn’t a line for the tubes this morning. They stepped in one at a time both saying “Taco Bellevue Hospital” as their destination. Once they arrived, they walked into the main entrance and into the lobby. The receptionist noticed them alk in and waved them over to her desk.
“May I help you?” the receptionist asked
“Yes, my wife has been throwing up lately and we need to see a doctor.” Fry said
“Ok, just sign your names here and hold out your hand so I can check your career chips.” She replied. They did as they were told and then the receptionist motioned them over to a waiting area, which was populated with several humans and aliens. They went over and sat down. They didn’t have to wait long before a nurse came through a door and said “Phillip and Turanga Fry?” she called out. Fry and Leela got up and walked over to the nurse. She then proceeded down the hall with Fry and Leela in tow. They then reached a room and she motined them in. it was your standard hospital room. Fry sat in a chair next to the wall and Leela was on the table. The nurse then began take her vitals and she also drew a blood sample.
“A doctor will see you shortly. We have to conduct some tests, shouldn’t be more than five minutes.” She said and left the room.
“Well Fry I guess now we wait.” Leela said
“Yup” he replied.
Just like the nurse said, five minutes later a doctor came in. he was wearing the usual doctor garb. He was of average height and build, with black hair that was slicked back. “Mr. and Mrs. Fry?” he asked
“Yes doctor?” they said together
“Mrs. Fry, I am pleased to inform you that you are pregnant.” He replied
Fry and Leela were to shocked to answer the doctor, he then turned and left the couple in the room.
Leela turned to Fry “Can you believe Fry? We’re going to be parents!” she said with excitement.
“I can’t believe it! I’m going to be a dad!” Fry said he hugged her tightly. Leela glanced at her writs thingy and the time read 9:45 AM
“Oh my god Fry, we’re going to be late for work!” Leela said
They broke the hug then quickly left the hospital and made their way to Planet Express.

Everyone was in the conference room, except of course Fry and Leela. Even Bender was on time for a change. Hermes was in the middle of the meeting when Fry and Leela came bursting into the room, out of breath. Everyone was startled by sudden interruption and they all looked at the couple.
“Where in Jah’s name have you two been? And it better be good reason or I’m docking your pay!” Hermes shouted.
“Splu’h Leela your never this late!” Amy said
“Well the reason we’re late is that we had to stop by the hospital. And we just found out that we are going to be parents!” Leela said excitidley, by this time both her and Fry have made it to their seats.
“Well I’m still dockin your pay the hospital vist. Oh and congratulations.” Hermes said with joy.
“Guh Leela congratulations, and your going to let me be an aunt right?” Amy said
“Of course Amy, I do kind of think you as a sister anyway.”
“Hey Fry if Amy gets to be the aunt, I can be an uncle right?” Bender said nudging Fry in the elbow.
“Sure Bender, and Professor that means your going to have a cousin.” Fry said looking over towards the professor, who was woken from his nap.
“Impossible, for me to have a cousin, that would mean that Fry had knocked someone up.” The Professor said in his usual senile tone.
“Its true professor, and Leela’s the mother.” Fry said to his nephew
“What?! Since when were you a couple?!” the professor replied.
Leela rolled her eye and answered “We’ve been married since last month professor.”
“Oh my. Good news everyone!” the professor said getting up from his chair.
Everyone moaned anticipating another delivery that may result in someone getting killed or seriously injured.
“Da professor is right. You have to deliver this box of office supplies and ‘new cover sheets for TPS reports’ to the company Initech on the planet Cube 4 in the Corporation Galaxy.” Hermes said, setting a stack of four boxes on the table.
“Fry, Bender, you two get the boxes and load them in the in ship.” Leela said. The two then each grabbed two boxes and took them to the ship. They returned a few minutes later. Bender pulled a beer out of his chest cabinet and began to drink.
PE Ship
Earth Orbit

They didn’t get into Earth Orbit until mid-afternoon, since both Leela and Fry had fill out all the necessary forms and they had go back to their apartment to get a few things since it was a couple day journey. Amy had also joined them, in case something happened and Leela was not able to fly the ship. Fry, Leela and Bender were on the bridge and in their usual spots, while Amy sat up front on the couch, reading one of her beauty magazines.
“Ok I got the auto pilot set, luckily there’s a beacon on that planet.” Leela said after punching a few buttons on her console. “Amy, can you and Bender take the first watch, Fry and I didn’t sleep well last night ” Leela said, stretching in the process. Fry looked up from his console at mention of his name.
“Hey I think I know why you two didn’t get much sleep last night hehehehehe.” Bender said, while puffing on his cigar.
Leela shot an icy glare at Bender, causing him to shut up immediately. “Fry, I think we should go get some rest, Amy and Bender can take of the ship.” Leela said to her husband. They both got up and went to the captain’s cabin which was now their cabin, and did in fact actually sleep.
PE Ship
En-route to Cube 4

Amy sat alone on the bridge, Bender had gone back to his cabin and into sleep mode. She glanced over at one of the sensor displays, and noticed a good-sized blip. After a few minutes, the computer identified the contact as the DOOP flag ship, the Nimbus. Amy let out a sigh of relief, and was quite happy since this meant that she might be able to her Kiffy. Then as an afterthought, she also remembered who was in command of the Nimbus – one Zapp Brannigan. She went over to the intercom and said
“Leela, you better get up here, I’ve picked up the Nimbus on the scanner.”
Leela rolled over to answer her, but Fry pulled her back down. “Fry we have the Nimbus on the scanner, you know what that means.” She said as got out of her husbands grip.
Yea I know, at least this time, we don’t have to pretend to be engaged or in any sort of relationship like on the Titanic.” Fry said getting out of bed.
“Maybe once he sees that were husband and wife he’ll leave us alone, but I’m not counting on it.” Leela said. They kissed each other as they left the room.
A few minutes later, they arrived on the bridge. Amy greeted them and filled them in on the situation. “So has that blowhard tried to contact us yet?” Leela asked, a hint of anger in her voice.
“He has, I told him you were busy. He should be on any moment.” Amy replied.
At that exact moment, the image Zapp Brannigan appeared on the ship’s vidphone. “Well well well if it isn’t the lovely lady Leela, I see you’ve come crawling back to the Zapper.” Brannigan said triumphtly.
“Zapp, in case you didn’t get the memo, I’m married now.” Leela said, showing Zapp her wedding ring, just to remind him. The screen then showed Zapp with a look of both shock and horror.
“Leela how could you? Who could you find that’s able to please you?” Zapp cried.
“Oh, well he’s right here. Fry could you come here please?” Leela said. Fry then came into Zapp’s view, and what he saw was beyond his belief – they were kissing each other passionately right in front of him!
“You mean you married that pipsqueak delivery boy?” Zapp managed to say
“Yes Zapp I did, and by the way, he’s much better that you, and if you’ll excuse us we have a delivery to make.” Leela said and killed the com link between the two ships.
Initech Parking Lot
Cube 4

After the incident with Zapp, the rest of trip to the Cube 4 planet was uneventful. They were now entering the traffic lane for the approach to the planet. Once through the atmosphere, Leela landed the ship in the parking lot directly in front of the main entrance to Initech. The building itself was very similar to the one from the movie Office Space. Once the ship’s landing gear deployed, Leela turned to Fry, “Fry, you and Bender can go and make the delivery, no need to use the hover-dollies.” She said
Fry nodded and turned to Bender “c’mon Bender lets go and get this over with.”
“Sure skin tube, like you expect me, Bender, to do work.” The robot said, while taking a puff on his cigar.
“Bender, help Fry now, before I decide to put dent in your shiny metal ass.” Leela said with a hint of sarcasm.
Bender grumbled and went to the cargo bay with Fry. They got the boxes and lowered the ramp.
“Hey Fry how about we ditch the packages and say we delivered them?” Bender said
“Na, lets just go and deliver the packages like Leela said.” Fry replied
“Somebody’s whipped!” Bender replied.
They went up to the building, the doors sliding open as they approached. They walked in and saw tow human security guards behind a desk. One of them looked up and greeted Fry and Bender.
“Can I help you sirs?” he said
“We’re from Planet Express, and we have these packages to deliver. We were told to deliver them to a Bill Lumbergh.” Fry said.
“Oh, well you just go that door their and take the first left. His is the first office on the right.” The guard replied.
“Thanks, man.” Fry replied.
Fry and Bender walked up to the door and it slid open, revealing very typical cube farm. After a moment, Fry and Bender walked down to Lumbergh’s office, to deliver the packages. Fry knocked on the door, and a very monotone voice replied “Who is it?”
Fry answered, “Planet Express, package delivery.” The door slid opened and behind a large mahogany desk was a average man (yes, that Bill Lumbergh from Office Space). The name plate on the desk read ‘Bill Lumbergh’.
“Here’s your office supplies you ordered, sign here please.” Fry said as he set the boxes down on the floor and handed Lumbergh a clip board.
He signed his name, then said “Yeah, you can just put them in right their.”
“C’mon meat bag, lets get outta here there’s nothing good steal anyway.” Bender said. They both left and headed out the door. As they were on their way out, they saw three very familiar men (if you’ve seen the movie, that would Peter, Samir, and Michael) standing around a printer, obviously frustrated.
“So skin tube, what’s this I hear about this being your last delivery?”
Bender asked as they walked backed to the ship.
“Bender old buddy, I’m volunteering for the Navy. And I leave at the end of the month,” Fry answered, putting his arm around Bender.
“WHAT?! Your leaving me? Who’s going to be my scapegoat?” Bender cried
They reached the ship and where on their way to the bridge. “Relax, Bender, you can just use Zoidberg.” Fry answered
They got to the bridge and found Leela laying on the couch, napping. As soon as Fry noticed this, he quietly told Bender to shut up, and snuck up to the back couch. After he got their, he jumped over the couch and landed on top of a sleeping Leela. Her reflexes kicked in and she kicked Fry in the gut throwing him off the couch in pain.
“Oh sorry Fry, are you okay?” she asked concerned
Fry slowly got up and put his arms around his gut “I’m fine dear, nothing a little TLL won’t cure.” Fry said grinning.
“Not now Fry, we have to get back so that we can take care of your stuff before you you ship out.” Leela said, making her way to the controls. Amy then came through the door and took her seat as Leela prepared the ship for take off.
“Everyone ready?” Leela said. They all nodded in response, then the Planet Express ship blasted off into space towards home.
PE Ship
Nearing Earth Orbit

The trip home was pretty uneventful. Leela was now at the controls, manually flying the ship since she didn’t trust the autopilot in heavy traffic. The traffic around Earth was getting pretty heavy and she figured it would be a while before they got clearance to land. She yawned and stretched, she may be pregnant, but you could hardly tell. She glanced over at her husband to find that he was looking thoughtfully at something on his screen. She idly wondered what he was looking at, she engaged the autopilot and got up and walked over behind Fry’s seat.
“Watcha lookin at honey?” she asked as she leaned over Fry and ran her arms down his chest.
“Oh just some stuff about the ship and navigation and that. I figure that if I learn some stuff now that’ll help me with some of my training.” He said, by this time Leela’s face was level with his and they kissed.
“Wow Fry, I really am impressed, then when you’re done with your tour you can be more helpful on some of the longer deliveries, unlike Bender.” She answered
“Thanks for the complement honey. How much longer till we get home?” he asked, glancing up at his wife.
“Only a couple more hours, you better go get Bender and Amy up.” She replied, returning to the captain’s chair. Fry went and did what he was told.
Planet Express

The hangar doors opened and Leela lowered the landing gear and set the ship down in the hangar. As soon as the front landing gear hit the floor, Bender and Amy rushed off the ship, since they both had plans for tonight. That left Fry and Leela to finish shutting down the ship. After the ship was shut down and locked up, they to left the ship. They stopped when they got up to the conference table and there was a sticky note on top of about an three quarter inch stack of papers. The note read –
Fry, Leela – here’s the post-mission forms to fill out and also those forms that I had requested for Fry earlier are in there. Put them in the in box in my office, IN ORDER.
Hermes
After Leela read the note, she let out a sigh and handed it to Fry for him to read.
“Aw man, it looks like I’ll have to cancel our reservations at Elzar’s.” Fry complained, Leela turned to him with a look of surprise on her face.
“When did you make reservations?” she asked, looking a bit confused
“Oh I did it via email from the ship last night. I made them for eight thirty figuring we would be home by then.” He replied, facing Leela with a grin on his face.
“Well if we divide up the stack we still might be able to make it.” Leela said, turning to sit down in one of the chairs.
“Ok, then lets go.” Fry replied as he to sat in the chair next to Leela and took about half a stack of papers. They then both began the mad rush to finish them in time.

Fry and Leela were both still sleeping when the vidphone console in the room stared beeping. Leela rolled over to glance at the caller ID which read ‘Planet Express’. Figuring it was important she answered the call, careful to leave on voice only.
“Hello?” she answered
“Leela? You and Fry better get down here as soon as possible, dere are some people here from the Doop askin about Fry.” Hermes said
“Ok, we’ll be down there as soon as we get ready, bye.” Leela said. She then ended the call and got out of bed. Fry was still sound sleep, Leela looked at him and thought I swear he can sleep though anything. After that thought she got up and went to the shower.
Fry rolled over, expecting to find his wife laying beside him. He was surprised to find nothing, alarmed, he got up and then noticed that the bathroom light was on and he heard the shower running. Better go see what she’s up to. He thought then he to went into the bathroom to join his wife in the shower.
Leela was surprised when Fry had got in the shower, since when she last saw him he was sound asleep.
“ Your just in time to do my back.” Leela said as she turned around to give Fry a kiss.
“So that means you’ll do mine then?” He asked
“Yes, now how up to it, we got to get down to PE.” She answered, and handed Fry the soap.
They were in shower for another good ten to fifteen minutes, they went about putting all there usual clothes, feeding Nibbler and having breakfast. After their routine was done, they left the apartment and headed toward Planet Express to see what was up with Hermes.
Chapter 10 - Upgrades and Promotions
(When the Balao II Commerce Raider class was launched , there was no equivalent entire DOOP Navy. It was similar though to the ancient diesel submarines of World War II. With a universal war looming, the High Command made the decision to use similar tactics of the submarines. The result was code-named Plan Black. The main objective of the raiders was to engage and destroy enemy merchant traffic, then procede to take on warships, if possible. Another idea that the DOOP High Command took from World War II, was the use of wolf-packs. First used by the Germans against American shipping in the Atlantic, then later by the Americans in the Pacific against Japan. After seeing the success of this tactic, the DOOP decided to copy it, but only the best aspects of it. With their stealth capability, the Balao II’s also preformed a variety of other roles, like intelligence gathering, special forces insertion, and they were also able to deliver supplies to guerrilla forces. (One of the first of many changes that were made by the new DOOP Chief of Staff, Gen. Douglas MacArthur was to introduce a new uniform for DOOP personnel. The new uniform for officers was an updated of the version tropical uniform worn by the United States Navy. As for the enlisted men, they wore a similar outfit worn by their counterparts from the U.S. Navy. MacArthur had also fired many top personnel for gross incompetence and reckless endangerment. Most notable of these firings was that of the captain of the DOOP flagship Nimbus– Zapp Brannigan. No one knows for sure what was behind the decision, although it has been noted that Brannigan had several times before broke the law, and that his ‘victories’ were not really that impressive. Once Fry and Leela arrived at the Planet Express building, they found that there were two average looking men in khaki uniforms sitting at the table in the employee lounge. The two men got up once Fry and Leela entered the room. One of the men came forward, his nametag read ‘Cpt. Harris’ and introduced himself, “Hello, I’m Captain Harris, of the DOOP Navy’s new commerce raider division.” Harris said as he greeted Fry and Leela.
He continued “ I presume you are Philip J. Fry?” he asked as he turned to face Fry.
“Yes sir, what’s this all about anyway?” Fry asked
“Mr. Fry, due to your job as a delivery boy for Planet Express and in that capacity you have been all across the universe. Am I safe to make the assumption that you have seen combat?”
“Just about every mission sir, you wont believe some of the places we had to deliver to.” Fry answered,
“Oh really? It has also come our knowledge that you have had numerous encounters with Captain Zapp Brannigan and the Nimbus.” Harris continued, Leela sighed and rolled her eye at the mention of Zapp Branningan.
“If you don’t mind me asking how did this start?” Harris asked
“Lets say I just made a really stupid mistake five years ago, one that would rather forget.” Leela answered, narrowing her eye
“Sorry ma’am, but you would be happy to know that Gen. MacArthur had forced him into retirement, and he is in no longer in command of Nimbus. The Nimbus is now under the command of Lieutenant Commander Kif Kroker ” Harris said with a smile
“Thank you, that’s very good news, now can you tell us why you’re here?” Leela answered.
“Mrs. Fry, your husband has been selected for training at the Officer Candidate School on Mars. It was MacArthur’s decision to send you there instead of the Academy.” Harris said
“So when do I leave?”
“You’ll leave in a week, report to the New Quantico Training Facility on Mars. If you’ll excuse me, I must be on my out.” Harris then made his way out, with his driver following behind him.
Fry and Leela then turned to look at each other. Fry was sort of surprised when Leela pulled him into a tight hug and began to cry slowly. “Oh Fry I can’t belive your only here for another week. Promise me that you’ll be home to see the birth of our child.”
“I’ll do everything I can to make it back by September. Now let’s tell the others.” Fry said lifting Leela’s head off his shoulder. He used part of his shirt to wipe the tears from Leela’s eye. They then both made their way into conference room where they found their fellow co-workers.
“What did dat Captain Harris want mon?” Hermes asked, putting down some forms
“Well he came here to say that I leave next week for my training.” Fry answered as he and Leela made their way to their seats.
“Guh Fry your not trying to avoid Leela now that she’s pregnant are you?” Amy said, with a hint of anger
“Amy, why on earth would Fry do such a thing, and how could you think that!” Leela retorted, glaring at Amy.
“I guess your right, Fry would never do such a thing.”
“Fry you’re a lucky man, thee free meals a day! What a deal!” said Dr. Zoidberg waving and clacking his claws.
“Shut up stikin crab!” Hermes said as he swatted Zoidberg with a rolled up newspaper.
Professor Hubert Farnsworth came in just as Zoidberg was sitting down and uttered those three terrifying words
‘Good news everyone!”
Everyone moaned, not wanting to know what the professor had for them this time, weather it be another delivery to a hostile planet or some crazy invention.
The Professor sat down in his chair at the head of the table, with everyone staring at him, waiting to hear what the good news was.
“What was I going to say again?” he said out loud , scratching his balding head.
“You said you have good news professor.” Leela interjected
“Oh my yes! Now I remember, we have been axed by DOOP Intelligence to gather information for them on the Omicronians and their allies – the heads of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.”
“Why us professor, we’re just small package delivery company. And besides our ship isn’t outfitted for that type of stuff.” Leela argued
“What they told me was, we were the perfect choice because no one would suspect a package delivery company would be employed by the DOOP. And as incentive, they offered to upgrade our ship, free of cost.”
“Did they happen to have a contract for us to sign?” Hermes said, eyeing the professor
“As a matter of fact they did for a few million dollars. And there will be people her tomorrow to start the upgrades on the ship.”
“People, you know what dat means – we have it get this place up to code before they arrive. So get cleanin!” Hermes said, he then dismissed the group, Fry and Bender went to clean the lounge, Zoidberg and Hermes to there respective offices, and Amy and Leela to the ship.
Amy and Leela were in the cockpit of the ship, running various diagnostics on the ships computer systems, when Amy broke the silence “So Leela, have you decided on a name yet?”
Leela looked up from her console at Amy “No not yet, we haven’t found out what sex the baby is yet.”
“Why not, I know I would want to know.”
“Fry and I decided that we’ll wait a few months, and before you say it, no we are not going to find out if it’ll have one or two eyes.” Leela said turning back to her console.
With her question answered, Amy went back to her work as well.

Everyone was gathered around the conference table, trying to stay awake through Hermes morning meeting.
The door bell rang, and that woke everyone save for Bender up from their naps.
“That must be the DOOP people! Zoidberg, go to your office and don’t come out!” Hermes said, as Zoidberg let out a moan and scuttled to his office.
Hermes then went to the front office to let in the DOOP technicians. When he opened the door, he saw two men, one tall and slightly shorter dressed in black suits with black hats (think Blues Brothers). They introduced themselves to Hermes.
“I’m Elwood” the taller one said, the other then said “And I’m Jake, we’re here about the ship upgrades.” Jake finished
“And where would you like us to off load the equipment?” Elwood said
“Just do to da other side of da hangar and we’ll have our delivery boy get a hover dolly.”
“Thanks” they said as turned and went to the other side.
Hermes then went back into the building where found Fry, Leela, Bender and Amy watching TV in the lounge, ‘All My Circuits’ was on.
“Ok people the DOOP people are here for the upgrades, Fry mon go get the hover dolly and meet them by the hangar door.
Fry nodded and got up and went out to the hangar. He got the hover dolly pushed it over to the side door of the hangar. He opened it, and was greeted by Elwood and Jake.
“You the delivery boy?” Elwood asked
“Yes sir, names Phil Fry.” Fry said, as he reached out to shake hands
“Ok, follow us and we’ll help load up.” Jake said. They both then walked toward a non-descript white paneled hover van. They slid the doors opened, and inside was several boxes. On some of the boxes, in giant red letters was ‘HANDEL WITH CARE’. The three then proceeded on to load up the hover dolly. Once they were finished, they walked back into the PE building.
Ever curios, Fry asked “So what kind of stuff are we getting anyway?”
“You’ll find out.” Elwood replied. They got to the door and went inside the hangar. The rest of the crew was gather near the PE ship eager to see what upgrades they were getting.
Fry stopped the hover dolly in front of the assembled group, while Elwood and Jake went in front to start discussing the upgrades.
“Before I start, I’ll have to have you sign these forms, swearing you to secrecy.” Elwood said as he pulled out several forms from a briefcase. He then handed one to each crew members along with a pen. Everyone signed the forms then handed back.
“Now that that’s out of the way, I’m Elwood and this my partner Jake, we’re part of DOOP Intelligence, Research and Development. We are here today to make some necessary upgrades to your ship. This process we’ll take a few days and we’ll need your assistance with some of the installation. Now the upgrades you will be receiving include new and more powerful sensor array, an encrypted communications link, and an upgrade to your ships defenses and engines.” Elwood concluded. Amy and Leela both were smiling, since now they might actually have a decent ship.

Over the past few days, the PE crew helped Elwood and Jake with installing the new components on the ship. The ship looked pretty much the same, save for it now was painted in a light-gray color. Leela was on a hover platform, finishing up spraying on the PE logo on the tail. After she was finished, she flew the platform back to where the rest of the crew was gathered.
“Well the upgrade is complete.” She announced, stepping off the platform.
“Good, well if you’ll excuse us, we have got to get back to headquarters.” Elwood said, as he and Jake left the building.
“Well see ya later skin tubes, I got a poker game tonight.” Bender said as he mad his way to the exit, smoking and drinking.
“Well, the rest of you have the day off. Except for Zoidberg, he has to clean his office.” Hermes said and walked off while Zoidberg moaned.
“Well, I have date with Kif tonight, you are more than welcome to join us.” Amy said facing Leela and Fry.
“Ok, what time and where at?” Leela asked her
“7 at Elzar’s. Is that ok with you?” Amy replied
Fry and Leela both nodded.
“What’s the occasion?” Fry asked
“Oh didn’t you hear? Kiffy got command of the Nimbus!” Amy said with glee, as she left the building.
“Leela, how about we head home?” Fry said.
“Ok.”
They then joined hands and walked home to get ready for the evening.

Fry and Leela were seated across from Kif and Amy. They all had on formal clothes, the ladies in dresses while Fry was in a light brown sport coat with a turtle neck and black pants. Kif however had on his dress uniform. It looked similar to the uniform that Fry had worn at his weading, except that it had a more ‘futuristic’ look to it. On the sleves of his unifom, were three gold stipes – the rank of Commander.
“Congratulations Kif on your promotion, why did it take so long for them to give Zapp the boot?” Leela asked , taking a drink of water.
“Oh um thank you, from what I found out was that the new chief of staff was not statisfied when he read Zapp’s file. After some time some of the top admirals suggested that he take an early retirement.” Kif said.
“Also congratulations to you two, Amy told me that your expecting.”
“Thanks Kif, and yes we are. I wish Fry didn’t have to go away so soon.” Leela said
Kif had a look of surprise on his face, “Where are you going Fry?” he asked
“Oh, I joined the DOOP Navy. I leave in two days for Mars.” Fry said.
“Well, Fry I hope you know what your doing,”
The rest of the evening went by without interruption, it wasn’t until about 9:15 did they finnally get out of the restaurant and make their way to their respective homes
