A trio of nudist alien scammers infect Bender with an obiedience virus and use him to take over Planet Express. Hermes gets decapitated, and Leela meets and fall in love with Lars Filmore, an employee at the head museum. The scammers discover the key to time travel tattooed on Fry's ass and send Bender through time to steal everything of value and take over the Earth. When the scammers decide to protect their gains by destroying the time code, and Fry in the process, Fry flees through time, chased by Bender. Exiled to Neptune, the Planet Express crew lead a rag-tag attack to recover their home world.

Fry dates his new girlfriend Colleen while Professors Farnsworth and Wernstrom vie for the right to lead a scientific mission to explore the rip. After winning a DeathBall match, the Planet Express crew attempt the first mission to the rip while Fry discoveres that Colleen is a polyamorist and eventually ends up leaving her.
Despondent, he stows away on the Nimbus and ventures through the rip while Kiff gets killed in a missile accident. Fry later returns under the control of Yivo, a planet sized being who loves all beings. As Fry and Yivo take over the universe, Leela, Amy, and Zapp Branigan are the only uncontrolled people left on Earth.
